Rise to Greatness 2021 #2

{{Saturday, July 17
Kenner}}

It took almost the whole hour, from eleven to noon, when the ceremony was meant to start, for Scott to help me get ready. We used my bedroom while Dom was getting ready in the guest room he'd been using off and on the last few weeks. Amy, Kara, and Jaina were in and out a few times. Helping, telling me who was arriving. Sienna even popped in for a moment after she, Chris, and Xiomara arrived. We hugged, and I promised her we would talk after the ceremony. The caterers arrived, closely followed by Liz with the flowers. She came in to see me too, and show me one of the arrangements she'd made. It was different wildflowers, grass, baby's breath, and beautiful, as I knew it would be.

Scott zipped me into the dress he'd made, all white. He'd previously shown me some fabric that was shades of beige in an ombre pattern that we both loved, but by the time he ordered it from his supplier, they were out of stock. So, white it was. Everyone here knows I was married before and no one really follows that dumb tradition anyway. The dress itself is very light, summery, goes down to my knees. It fits perfectly, as everything Scott makes for me does. When I was fully dressed, hair and makeup, Scott left the room to tell Amy and Wyatt I was ready. Amy, so she could let everyone downstairs know that we'd be starting soon. And Wyatt, because he is walking with me.

I've only been alone in the room for a few minutes when there's a knock at the door.

“It's me.”

I smile at my brother's voice. “Come in.”

Wyatt walks in, he's wearing a light gray suit, with a white dress shirt and dark blue tie. He doesn't dress up often, but when he does he looks great. “I hear you're just about ready.”

“I'm all dressed and made up, so yeah. I am.”

“Are you ready to do this?”

“I've never been more ready for anything in my life.”

Wyatt grins, the half one that he's known for. “You know, this is a very different conversation than the last-”

“Stop. We are not going to put a cloud over this by talking about that.

“Alright. You're right. I just wanted to say that you seem about a thousand times happier today, than you did then.”

I smile, I can't deny that. “I am. I really, really am. Everyone is here, everyone is getting along... as far as I can tell anyway. And I'm absolutely certain this is right.”

“So am I. I wouldn't have agreed to do this for you if I thought otherwise.”

“Thank you. I love you.”

“Love you too, baby sis.” We hug. I've always loved my brother's hugs.

We then sit on the couch at the end of my bed ad go over the plan, where to walk, all that. We meant to earlier but then the Helms' got here and... it didn't happen. It's really simple though, just down the stairs, across the living room, between the two groups of guests that I'm confident Scott directed well enough... and up to the podium next to Dom and in front of the judge. After that Wyatt would find Amy and stand next to her. We don't have any other attendants, it would have been too hard to choose and I wouldn't have wanted anyone to feel slighted. As we're going over it one more time, there's a knock at the door.

“Breezy.” I get up and open the door for Scott. He smiles at me, looking me up and down. “Dom is downstairs, your guests are in place. All they need is you. Let's do this, dollface.”

“Thanks.”

He then hands me a bouquet. Also made by Liz, but with just one kind of flower mixed with the grasses and ferns... white hydrangeas. She must have been inspired by my bushes in the backyard. Without another word, Scott leaves. I turn around to my brother.

“Ready?”

“Aren't you forgetting something?” I look at him blankly. He points to my feet. I am barefoot.

“Nope. I'm at home, I'm going to do this comfortably.”

Wyatt shakes his head, smirking at me. “Alright. Then I guess we're ready.”

We go out into the hallway, and stop at the top of the stairs. Scott is waiting at the bottom. When he sees us, he waves a hand, and I hear music start. It's some classical thing that Dom picked out. I don't really know much about that kind of music, but he played it for me a few days ago and I liked it. Scott then waves at me and Wyatt. We take one step down, and Scott smiles before disappearing. I guess taking his place in the small crowd of guests. I can't see anything until we're nearly to the bottom, thanks to the columns and archway that define the living room space. But I soon see people, the back of the crowd really, although everyone is turned around, watching for me. I giggle, because it makes me think of a wrestling entrance. I first see Kara and Shane and their kids, then David sitting on the chair I had pushed into the corner, with his son on the knee of his good leg. Regan stands close by. As Wyatt walks me closer, I see everyone we'd invited, even some people I hadn't expected to come. I smile to them as we pass by... Christian next to Chris and Sienna. Nadine and Simon, with Kayla next to them. Kennedy and Jon, I am very surprised he came with her. He gives me a smirk and a shrug. Jordan and Dawn Lohan.

I don't see anyone else though because I finally look forward, and see Dom waiting for me at the end of the 'aisle' we created. He looks utterly stunning. Scott didn't make his dark gray suit, but he did tailor it, and it's perfectly fitted. Nothing looks better than the way he's looking at me, though. The smile on his face... makes me temporarily forget every other person in the room. I see his eyes glance down at my feet, and he laughs. Finally, Wyatt and I get to the end. This is a far from traditional ceremony so he isn't 'giving me away,' so instead of standing with me for a moment, he just kisses my cheek, gives me a hug, then turns to Dom and shakes his hand, before stepping aside. I look, and see him join Amy, Jason, and Aniya. I see Jaina and Reece behind them, and Loki next to Jaina before I turn back. Dom is still giving me that smile.

“Hey you.”

“Hey.” I giggle a bit.

Judge Wilty, the same judge who married Wyatt and Amy, and who's office I went to with Blake... and who granted my legal annulment... gives us both a welcoming smile.

“Good afternoon everyone, and thank you all for being here. I am Judge Wilty, I've known the Lancaster family for a long time, and I couldn't be more honored to be officiating this marriage here today. Bree, Dominic... I'm to understand you've prepared your own vows?”

“Yes, sir.”

“We have.” We did agree to one thing, the same closing.

“Alright. Dominic?”

I turn and hand my bouquet to Amy, who was closest to me, then face Dom again, and he grabs both of my hands.

“You know, I've always considered myself to be a pretty strong-minded guy. I decide something, and that's it. I rarely change my mind. A long time ago, I must have been a teenager, I decided... that marriage wasn't for me. Didn't need it, didn't want it. Mom did fine without it, so would I. And then.. I met you.” He stops to smile. I hear light laughter from the crowd. “First we were friends, and then something more. We've been through a lot in the last three years and change, and somewhere along the way... you did what I thought was impossible. You changed my mind. I knew there was only one way to let you and the world know, without a doubt, that the friendship and love I found in you would never change. I've said this to you many times before, but I'm gonna repeat it right now in front of our family and friends... I'm here, for good. You'll never, not even once, question my love for you, or if I'm on your side, or anything like that. My promise now, with a capital P, is that from today on for the rest of my life, I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure that you never want for anything. Anything. I love you, today, and always.”

I have no idea how I listened to that without crying, but as I run through what I planned to say in my head, I know I won't make it to the end.

“Beautiful words. Bree?”

I give Judge Wilty a grin, then look back at Dom. “We have been through a lot. A false start of sorts, friendship, some bumps in the road. I wouldn't change any of it though, because all of it got us to where we are. I once said to myself, and the world, that I would never do this again. Everyone here knows I was hurt, badly, before. Especially you. But you know, I don't think I would change that, either. I had to learn what love is not, before I could really understand what love is. It's choosing that person, every day, always, no matter what. It's being there for them not only when you're both on top of the world, but when one of you is at the bottom of a cave, broken, too. It's....” I pause, I can feel myself about to lose my voice. I take a breath, commanding myself to not cry or else I won't be able to finish. “It's the knowledge that nothing and no one else comes first, and neither is second best, because you walk side by side. My promise to you today, is that I am never going to forget the way you opened me up to that, to what love actually is, and that I'm going to spend a lifetime doing my best to give back to you the same, everything you've done for me. I love you, today, and always.”

Shit. I feel a tear or three escaping. I brush them away with one finger. Dom smiles at my motion, and I would swear I see a little glisten in his eyes, too. Or maybe it's just the way the light is coming in through the windows.

“Well stated. Now then.... you have rings, yes?”

“We do.” Dom digs in his jacket inner pocket and pulls out a box. Both of our bands are inside. He opens the box and sets it on the podium, then pulls mine out. We'd already gone over this part, too. We wanted to do it a little differently than the typical “I do” bit. I stick my hand out, where my ruby and diamond ring is, the band was made to match it. Dom takes my hand and slides it on.

“With this ring, I take you, Bree, as my wife.”

I grab his band from the box, and slip it onto the appropriate finger of his extended hand, reminding myself to say his whole name. Pretty sure I have to for legal reasons.

“With this ring, I take you, Dominic, as my husband.”

We squeeze each other's hands, smiling as if no one else was in the room.

“Bree, Dominic... you've made your promises of commitment and exchanged rings in recognition of them, here in the presence of your family and friends as witnesses. With those said and done and with the power given me by the State of Louisiana, it's my honor to declare you husband and wife. I think you know the rest...” Judge Wilty smirks, he was always a witty guy.

Dom cups my face with both hands, and kisses me softly. I slide my arms around him and he pulls me close for a hug, picking me up a bit so that I'm standing on my toes. He speaks softly near my ear, so that only I can hear him.

“We fucking did it....”

I laugh, and speak at the same tone. “We did!” I hug him tighter. Then a thought comes to mind and out of my mouth before I can stop it. “I can't wait for tonight.”

Dom sets me back down and looks at me as if he isn't sure what he just heard. I just smile. A second later, he smiles back, and leans forward to kiss me again. I think he got the message.

* * * * *

Scott led everyone through the kitchen to see where the refreshments were set up, then outside to the pool. Meanwhile we took care of the legal stuff, signing the license. Wyatt and David signed as witnesses. I thought it made sense, my brother and Dom's. After that's done, Dom and I go outside, and to the patio table that had been set up for us to sit. Instead of sitting though, we stand in front of it as it looks like more than a few people wanted to come say something to us. So it ends up being a sort of informal receiving line. I'm okay with that, even more so after Scott brought us drinks, fresh lemonade that came from the caterers. First up is Kennedy and Jon. She smiles big and walks up to Dom first.

“Hubs!” He laughs as they hug.

“Watch it... people can hear you.” It was clearly a reference to the movie, and details were not supposed to be out yet.

“What? I'm clearly talking about the fact you're actually a husband now.” She winks. I laugh. “You know, after that mess last year, I wasn't sure you two would get to this point. But look at you, honey. I'm just thrilled!”

“I think you know we have you to partially thank for that.”

“Maybe a little. I probably stuck my nose in where I shouldn't have. But that's kind of a thing I do sometimes.”

I grin, she's obviously talking about SCW. “Sometimes. But it usually works out.”

“Usually.” She then hugs me. “You look gorgeous honey, had to say that.”

“Thank you.” I then turn to Jon, who hasn't said a thing yet. “And you... does the fact you showed up mean you're going to stop talking shit about me on air?”

“I'll take it under consideration.” He smirks. “All jokes aside though, congratulations. You deserve to be happy.”

“Thank you. I won't tell anyone you were nice to me.” Jon shrugs.

“Thanks man, appreciate it.” The guys shake hands, and Kennedy and Jon walk off.

Next to approach us is Jordan and her date... Dawn Lohan. Jordan gives me a big hug.

“I'm so happy for you! You both look great and.... I'm just happy to see you happy.”

“Thanks babe, I'm so glad you came.” I turn to Dawn. “Good to see you too, Dawn.”

“Is it?” She seems apprehensive.

“Of course. Look, I know we've butted heads in the past, but that's the past. I'm not living there anymore.”

Dawn smiles. “Good to hear. You have a beautiful place here, and the ceremony was wonderful. Thanks for welcoming me.”

“Any friend... or whatever, of Jordan's is welcome here, babe.”

“Echoed. Glad you ladies are here.” Dom accepts a hug from Jordan too, and shakes Dawn's hand. Jordan looks behind her at the small group of people waiting to speak to us.

“We won't hold up the congrats line. Talk later.”

“Of course.” I smile at them both as they walk off.

Walking up next is Xiomara, with a big smile. She hugs us both before saying anything.

“Mami and Papi over here looking fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous, munequa.” She then looks Dom up and down. “And you... so handsome!”

“It's good to see you babe, it's been a while.”

“Too long. We'll have time to get together after this big show next week though, right?”

“Maybe Bree will, I'm busy after we get back from our trip.”

“That's right... Mr. Movie Star doing big things again. Can't wait.”

“Thanks.”

Xio grabs my hand. “Oh, before I forget, Sienna asked me to tell you she wants to speak to you in private. She's in a shady corner with Chris on the other end of the patio. Sun doesn't play nice with her skin since she's been expecting.”

“Okay, I will go see her soon.”

Xio hugs me again before leaving.

I smile big when I see who's coming up next. Nadine, with Simon Lyman. They both walk up with wide smiles, and Nadine reaches for my hand.

“Bree, I don't think I've ever seen you look so... content.”

“You've known me for longer than most people here, so that means a lot, thank you.” I give her a hug. Just then I see Kayla behind her. I reach over and hug her, too.

“You're so pretty today, Aunt Bree.”

“Thank you, bahydoll. I love your dress, too.” I give her a smile, her dress is a pale purple sundress, with a darker purple tiny flower print. She smiles shyly. My younger niece is such a quiet, shy girl. When I look up, Dom and Simon are shaking hands.

“Happy to be a small part of this, thanks for having me.”

“Simon, you and I cleared the air ages ago, you would have been invited even if you weren't now Nadine's other half.” I smile, to make sure he knows I mean that sincerely.

“Happy to be here, just the same. I wish you both nothing but the best.”

“Thanks, that's I want for her.”

I give Dom a smile. Nadine, Simon, and Kayla walk away.

Finally, Regan and David, on crutches, with David's son Jason, or as I've heard him called, Jay. I guess to avoid confusion. He looks excited again. Dom gives him a wave.

“Hey guys.... congrats.”

“Thanks babe. I didn't get to say so this morning but I'm glad you came with David.”

“Well, he asked, he didn't want to be alone... and anyway I figure it's time you and I remember that we actually do get along, when you take all the bullshit away. If Sienna and I get past things, I can do the same for you. You two are good for each other.”

“That means a lot to me, I'm really glad that so many petty differences have been put aside lately.” I glance at Dom, then David. Regan smirks.

“Yeah, well. Sometimes you have to just remind yourself that family and good friends are worth more than the bullshit. And speaking of...” David nudges Jay forward a little. “This kid has been bouncing off the walls all day trying to get over here and talk to you.” He directs the last part to Dom.

“I've noticed. Hey kiddo. Almost didn't recognize you, you're like a foot taller than the last time I saw you!”

“Not a whole foot!”

“At least a whole foot!” Jay laughs. “Well don't just stand there, come here.” Jay rushes over and Dom bends down to hug him.

“I missed you Uncle Dom! You should come see us more often.” Either Jay had very little idea of what went on last year, or he didn't care and just wanted to see his uncle. Dom and David glance at each other, they must be thinking the same thing I am. Dom stands back up, but keeps his attention on Jay.

“Well, next month I'm gonna be in L.A for a whole six weeks. I'll try to come by when I can.”

“You are? Why?”

“Work.” Dom grins, then smirks when Jay realizes what he means.

“You're doing a movie?”

“Yep.”

“Awesome! Everyone at school thinks its so cool that you're my uncle.”

“They don't give a flip about me being his dad, though. Go figure.” Everyone laughs.

“Daaad.” Jay rolls his eyes.

“See? Even he doesn't.”

“But they know you!” Jay turns back to Dom, and then looks over at me. “Hey wait... so does this mean you're my aunt now?”

Regan shakes her head, I'm sure she never thought that I would be any kind of relation to her kid. Well, step-kid. I give Jay a smile. “That's exactly what it means. But you don't have to call me that if you don't want to. Just Bree is fine.”

“You don't want to know what I call her sometimes.” I laugh, but try to cover it.

“Mom!” He laughs, too. Good, he thinks she's joking too. At least... I think she is.

“So, you're really gonna be in L.A. for six weeks?”

“Yeah, we figure we'll stay at my place, Bree can work out of there for a few weeks, once SCW starts back up.”

“Good deal, we'll have to get together when you have time.”

“Definitely.”

“Yay, you're really gonna come over!”

“Hey, would I lie to you?”

“No.” Jay grins, like knows better.

“I definitely wouldn't, and I'll make sure it happens.” Jay smiles at me.

“Awesome!”

“Alright, let's go get you into your trunks so you can swim. I'm sure Dom and Bree have other people to talk to today.”

“Okay! Thanks for letting everyone swim.”

“You got it.”

Regan walks Jay away, as he chatters away. David makes a face. “Guess we kinda have to make this work, now that his hopes are up.”

“I planned on it anyway. All of this wasn't just for today.”

David grins, nodding a bit. I think that's what he hoped for. “Alright. I'm gonna go get off this thing for a few.” He wiggles his bad leg a bit. “See you two later.”

David turns and slowly makes his way back to where he was sitting on the other side of the patio, near the pool. With no one else waiting to talk to us, we take our seats for a moment. Just then Scott arrives with two plates of food from inside. We hadn't even thought about eating yet, but as Scott sets it in front of me, I realize I'm famished. I thank him with a smile, and he walks off. Nothing was said, and didn't need to be. Dom and I have a few bites, everything was really good. As we nibble, I can't help smiling to myself about seeing him interact with Jay. He's about ten or eleven, and it just made me think about how great of a dad Dom would be someday.

I look around, at everyone who's here, having fun and realize there's one person I haven't seen yet.

“Have you seen Andrew yet?”

“Yeah, I saw him inside, he was near Sienna and Chris.”

“Oh.. I just haven't seen him anywhere and... oh wait.” I look across the patio, where a small bar is set up, and Shane is playing bartender. That's where I see Andrew. A few years ago, Shane and Andrew interacting civilly like that would have looked odd... they had a long history. But today, it's just another one of those things that people seemed to have put behind them, for the sake of being here for me and Dom. Either that, or they don't care about the other at all. Who knows. I make a mental note to ask Andrew later. Then I see Amy approaching.... all the drinks were at the bar, not just alcohol so it's not surprising in that way to see Amy walking up. I'm just very nervous about those two speaking. They'd both promised me they weren't going to start anything with the other, but as I watch, I can tell that Amy isn't going to the bar to get water or tea or something... she was specifically approaching Andrew....

* * * * * {{ Amy }} * * * * *

Amy had been talking to Bree and Dom's guests after the ceremony, interacting mostly with Wyatt, Jason, Aniya, David, and Regan, but speaking with others, too. Bree's friend Elizabeth, who made the flower arrangements, had been especially interesting to talk to, as they had similar esoteric interests. During a lull in conversation, Amy looked around, and saw Andrew at the bar, talking to Shane. Wow, she thought... if that can happen without fireworks, maybe it wouldn't cause an explosion if I spoke to him. Amy had one thing she wanted to say to Andrew, even after the match they'd had at Rise to Greatness two years ago when she thought she had said everything that needed to be said. But things had happened since then, and she felt the need to say one more thing. She turns to Wyatt and taps his arm.

“I'm gonna get some more of that amazing lemonade. Do you want something?”

Wyatt glances towards the bar, then gives her a look. “Lemonade, huh?”

Amy grins, sheepish. “Yeah. You want?”

“If you survive, sure.”

She laughs a bit. “Okay. Be right back.”

Amy gets up and heads towards the small outdoor bar, but she isn't going up to it first. Andrew has taken a step or two away from it, and is taking a drink of his beer as she walks up behind him. Seeing him in a suit was weird, but not any weirder than what she was determined to do. Taking a breath for strength, she taps him on the shoulder. Andrew finishes his sip and turns slowly. He see's who's tapped him... then his eyes slightly roll.

“The fuck you want?”

“Can you just listen?” Andrew just dead eyes her a second, then nods, reluctantly. “I know you don't want to talk to me, or probably even see me, and I get that. I maybe even deserve it. But, I needed to say something to you.”

“So say it, and get this over with.”

That was less hostile than she expected, but Amy also knew that Bree had asked both of them to be civil. Amy was playing on that, using the opportunity to say what she wanted to say.

“I won't keep you long. I just wanted to thank you.” Andrew raises an eyebrow, not having expected that. “For being there for Bree. You've known her almost as long as you've known me, and from what she's told me, you've been a very good friend to her, especially during that period of time when she felt like she had no one.”

“You mean when you and her brother were treating her like trash?”

Amy looks down a moment, she wouldn't let him get a rise out of her today. “Yeah, that's what I mean. I'm glad she had someone to lean on when it couldn't be us.”

Andrew sips his beer again, and Amy almost takes that as an insult, that he's doing it right in front of her. “On any other day, I'd have a pretty sharp shot to throw at you about that. But today... I'm gonna respect Bree's request and keep it to myself. Instead... I'll just say you're welcome.”

Amy nods, she has a pretty good idea what he wants to say, and the fact he isn't despite how much she knows he can't stand her these days just solidifies in her mind how loyal he is to Bree.

“You know, the way you stand by her, even through the mess with Blake, shows me that the guy I knew... is still in there somewhere. That's all I wanted to say.”

Andrew shakes his head and starts backing up, to walk away. “You just had to fucking ruin it, huh?” He turns and starts walking off. Amy can only snicker to herself. Typical.

“Take care, Andrew.” She calls out after him. He puts a hand up and waves her off, having more beer as he continues walking away.

Amy shakes her head and walks up to the bar, where Shane is waiting.

“Are you crazy?”

“Probably. Was he abrasive with you, too?

“Not really. I don't think he cares about me enough to waste energy on it. Gotta say I was concerned when I saw you walk up to him.”

“It was a calculated risk. But you know how I am when I feel I have to say something.”

“Anyone else, I'd pour a double of this rum after seeing that. But with you I know better.”

“Thanks. Just two lemonades?”

“You got it.” Shane fixes the drinks and hands them to Amy.

“Thanks. Again.” Amy grins as she walks back to the table where Wyatt is sitting. That actually went a lot easier than she expected. It was probably crazy, but she wanted Andrew to know that she recognized he was there for Bree, and appreciated it.

* * * * * {{ Bree }} * * * * *

I was just about to get up and run interference between Amy and Andrew when I saw him walk away from her, waving her off. I have no idea what she said but he didn't look happy about it. I make a mental note to ask him later, when there aren't so many people around. He walks to a spot by himself near the fence on the other side of the pool. Kara has most of the kids in the pool with her and she's running some kind of swimming game. Knowing her, she's already made sure everyone playing can actually swim. The only kid not involved is Loki, he probably thinks he's 'too cool' for kids games. Thirteen is a weird age. I look around while Dom and I eat off the plates Scott had brought us. The caterers did a great job - large charcuterie board, fresh green salad, ham, grilled chicken, steamed veggies. Fresh cut watermelon, pineapple, and cantaloupe, and grapes. The best thing though was Kara's cake, which I laughed when I saw it wasn't an actual cake... but a display of about sixty cupcakes, or as Dom calls them, “baby cakes.' Cause me, get it? Apparently he'd given her the idea and she loved it. They are crème filled with sliced strawberries on top, and absolutely delicious. I've had one already, and another is on my plate. Anyway, I look across the yard to the 'dance floor,' which is this wooden platform thing we rented to put over the grass, since dancing on the cement near the pool was a bad idea. I see Jaina and Christian standing near the edge of the 'floor' talking and laughing. Don't see Reece though. Jordan and Dawn are spinning around, they look happy together. A few other couples are out there too, and seeing Xio with Chris reminds me that I was meant to go talk to Sienna. I turn to Dom.

“Baby, I'm gonna go see Sienna, now that no one has our attention for the moment. Okay?”

“Yeah, sure. I can tell she's trying to keep to herself, so just give her my best.”

“Okay.” I get up and give him a kiss.

I make my way over to the corner of the patio where Sienna has a table. She looks really good in a pale yellow dress and white flats, her belly on display. When she sees me coming she sits up and smiles.

“Bree, I was wondering when you'd make time for me.”

“I will always make time for you, babe.” I lean over to hug her so she doesn't have to stand up, then sit next to her at the table. “I'm so glad you're here, how are you?”

“Better. I'm not really in a social mood, as you can tell, but I had to be here for you and Dom. You both look fabulous, sweetie. I'm so happy for you.”

“Thank you. Dom says to give you his best.”

“Thanks, I will speak to him later, once there aren't so many people here.”

“He'd like that. We miss you around here.”

Sienna smiles. “That's sweet, but I would most definitely be in the way.” She rests her hand on he stomach.

“Nonsense! You're beautiful and adorable.”

“I just feel massive, especially in this heat.”

“Do you want to go inside? Or swim?”

“Maybe later. I'm enjoying the fresh air, even if it is hot. It's not bad in the shade.”

“Okay. Whatever you need to be comfortable.” Sienna nods, still smiling. “Sie.... I have to say this, okay? You do know that I don't believe a word-”

“I know. I got your text, and Chris told me about your talk. I'm sorry I didn't reply to you, I just had to take a few days to myself.”

“I understand. But I really need you to understand that you're not to blame for-”

“I know.” Sienna smiles again, and this one looks genuine. “I just had a... moment, after what happened, where I wasn't sure. But my head is clear now, and I know better. Neither you or I are to blame for anything that those miscreants did. Thank you for seeing it as bullshit right away.”

“Of course, babe. I would never blame you for anything to do with those sacks of shit.”

“This is why I love you. You don't buy into bullshit.”

“Its also why I talked Chris out of pulling out of that match.”

“You did, thank you for that, too. It's something he needs to do. But enough about us, what about you? Ravyn and Kennedy?” Sienna raises an eyebrow.

“Yeah... I was expecting just me and Ravyn, Kennedy got herself involved.”

“Are you upset with her?”

I sigh. “It's complicated. I mean... I had a mission, you know? I chose to go after Ravyn because... well, she's Ravyn.” Sienna nods, they'd had their problems too and Sienna pretty much hates her. “But Kennedy has her issues with her too, and she seemed so excited to be in the ring with me for her return. It's like... I can't be mad at her.”

“Well, one of you needs to kick Ravyn's ass and pin her. Any time she loses makes me happy.”

“I'll do my best.”

“You always do.” Sienna looks over my shoulder, something grabbed her attention. She frowns a bit. “Hmm. You might want to look over there.”

I turn, and see Reece again, he's talking to Jaina and Christian, and no one looks happy. Uh oh...

Jaina was having the most fun she'd had in weeks. It had been rough, the argument she had with Reece, coming to terms with the fact Aunt Bree was friends with Jordan again... Owen acting like a complete dick to literally everyone in SCW, including her. He'd tried to apologize when he realized he assumed wrong, but Jaina wasn't having it. But today? Was the day she had been looking forward to ever since Aunt Bree and Dom chose the date for their wedding. She laughed to herself every time she remembered the day she first met Dom, her sixteenth birthday. Dom had helped Aunt Bree deliver her birthday present, a new car. Jaina had been beside herself, it was when Dom was still acting on TV and his show was one of her favorites... and she kinda maybe thought he was hot. Now, he's her uncle. Funny how life works out sometimes.

Jaina and Reece had spent most of the reception together, she'd wanted to swim with the kids but decided it would be better if she went in later, when Aunt Kara wasn't running Kiddie Olympics. Instead, she and Reece did some dancing, she hung out with Kelsai and her husband Victor. She walked around and talked to some people she hadn't seen in a while. Sienna, Chris, and Xiomara. Andrew... which had been slightly weird because it was after she saw him talking to Mom. And of course, Christian. Christian had kept to himself a lot so far, sticking near his dad and Sienna. As far as she knew, he hadn't even gone to talk to Aunt Bree and Dom yet. Maybe he was waiting for later, Jaina wasn't sure. She'd spoken to him briefly when they were both inside getting food, and Reece wasn't around. Jaina and Reece had talked things out after he got mad about her staying with Christian in St. Louis and everything had been okay since, but she hadn't wanted to take any chances. Not today.

Reece though had gone back to his house for bit, he'd come to the wedding in slacks and a nice shirt, and he told Jaina he wanted to change into something cooler. A few other people had done so, so it wouldn't be a big deal. Jaina took the opportunity to talk to Christian again, and they were currently on the wooden 'dancefloor' that had been laid down over the grassy area of the backyard.

“I told you I'd save you a dance.”

“You also said at least three. This is number one. I get the rest, right?”

“Of course you do! I keep promises.”

“Good to know.” He grabs her arms and swings her around to the music. Jaina laughs. She had changed too, out of her long blue wrap dress, into a black pleated mini skirt and red halter top. Since they were outside, she took Aunt Bree's cue and left her shoes indoors. Christian was in khaki's and a light blue cotton polo, so she assumed the heat wasn't bothering him too much.

“Good thing I'm not drinking today or that would have put me on my ass.”

“Maybe I should get you a drink.” Christian winks at her. She laughs.

“Nope, not in front of my mom.”

“Right... I hadn't thought of that. Forgive me.”

Jaina pretends to think about it, then smirks. “Hmm... okay. You're forgiven.”

They spin around a bit again, and the song ends, then seconds later a slower one starts.
“Oh look, dance number two.”

“You want to slow dance with me?”

“A dance is a dance.”

Jaina makes a few quick calculations in her head.... how long Reece had been gone already, how long this slow song was, and if Reece might come back before it was over. Also, how much she actually wanted to dance. She smiles. “Alright.” Christian pulls her closer, but keeps his hands placed respectably around her waist. Jaina lays hers on his shoulders.

“On second thought, are you sure this is okay? I noticed that you've avoided me when your boyfriend is around, other than introducing us.” Jaina made it a point to introduce the men to each other, because she wanted Reece to see that Christian was just her friend and that he was a nice guy. It went well.

“Yeah. It's fine. Have I done that?”

Christian tilts his head a bit, and gives her a “come on” look. “Don't give me that, Jay. I'm not stupid. What's the deal, has he given you shit about me again?”

“Well... maybe. A few weeks ago. But we talked it out, it's fine.

“A few weeks... wait, he knows about St. Louis?” Jaina nods. “Fucks sake, Jay. What did he think happened?”

“What do you think?”

“That's a bit silly to assume that. Unless... does he know about....?” Christian was asking without asking about their night in April.

“No. No one does.”

“No one?”

“Okay. Kelsai and Aunt Bree. But-”

“Bree?!” Christian lowers his head and shakes it.

“It's fine, okay? She won't say anything. Anyway it doesn't matter, Reece and I talked things over and it's fine. He was just thinking about when you were here for Christmas.”

Christian fights a smirk, but it comes through. “You know, for people who keep telling everyone we're just friends, we've spent quite a good bit of time together.”

“What, three or four nights? In eight months?”

“Well, when you put it like that...”

“Sorry, I wasn't trying to make it sound like nothing. But-”

“So, its something?”

Jaina sighs. If Reece had any idea this conversation was happening, he'd be likely to toss Christian over the back wall. Jaina loves him, but he has a massive jealous streak.
“Maybe it could have been.”

“That's my luck I guess. Day late and such.”

“Christian...” Jaina feels bad now, maybe she shouldn't have done what she did in April. She knew it was wrong, but she also didn't think that Christian saw her that way.

“I'm teasing.” He spins her around to the music.

“Are you?” Jaina can now see the side gate of Aunt Bree's yard, since Christian turned her. It opens, and Reece walks through. Oh. Shit. She felt her eyes widen.

“Jaina? What's wrong?”

Before she can say anything, or back away, Reece looks in their direction, and sees. Jaina sees his face instantly cloud over with that jealousy she hated. He makes a beeline for them.

“I... uh... I'm sorry.” She backs away. Christian looks bewildered.

“What for? What'd I say?”

“Not you.”

Just then, Reece grabs Christian's shoulder and spins him around. “What the hell do you think you're doing, huh?”

Christian flashes a look at Jaina, now understanding what she was talking about. “Er, having a dance and a laugh with my friend, mate. Do you mind?”

“Friend? I don't think friends hold each other around the waist like that. Mate.

“Reece, just stop it! We were just dancing, it's not a big deal.”

Reece turns to Jaina. “Not a big deal? With his hands all over you like that?”

“Gods Reece, my dad holds my waist like that when we dance! You're being ridiculous.”

“With what I know about... this?” He gestures between Jaina and Christian. “I really don't think I am.”

“Not sure what you think you know, but you're bang out of line here.”

“You stay out of this!”

“Hey, you're the one who interrupted our conversation, I ought to be telling you to butt out!”

Jaina steps between them, her hands outstretched. “Stop it, both of you! Christian, it's okay, I can handle this.” She then turns to Reece, putting Christian behind her. “And you.... we literally just went through this, I told you we're just friends and you said you believed me. I'm really getting tired of this whole jealousy shit!”

Reece looks around, Jaina notices a few heads have turned. “Alright, look. I really don't want to do this in front of everyone here and ruin Bree's party. Let's go inside and talk about this.”

“There isn't anything to talk about. Either you believe me and trust me, or you don't.”

Reece glares, mostly over Jaina's shoulder at Christian, but he directs some of it at Jaina too. He grabs her arm and starts to pull her, away from Christian and towards the house.
“I said let's go inside!”

Jaina yanks her arm, but his grip is too strong and she can't break free. “Let me go!” Jaina sees movement from the corner of her eye, and looks. It's Dad, he must have jumped from his chair. Before he can take two steps though, Mom is at his side and grabs his arm. Jaina sees her say 'No, you can't.' In that second her attention was on her dad, Christian has come forward. Jaina turns her attention back as Christian grabs Reece's arm.

“Unhand her. Now.

Reece let's go, spreading his hand out to make a show of letting go. Jaina rubs her wrist where he'd been pulling. Jaina stares at him like she doesn't know him.

“Are you fucking serious? First the unwarranted jealousy, and now you think you can pull me around?”

Reece sighs hard. “I just wanted to talk in private.”

“No. I am done talking!” Jaina glances back at where her Mom and Dad are, watching with concern. Then down at her wrist. Holy shit. “In fact, you know what? I'm just done.

“What? What do you mean?”

“With you! I'm done with you, Reece!”

Movement behind her causes Jaina to turn and look. Aunt Bree and Dom are walking up.

“Is everything okay over here?”

“Just a misunderstanding, that's all. I wanted to speak in private, and she'd rather not.”

“That's not at all what happened, mate, don't try to play this off.”

“It's okay, Christian, we know. We saw.”

“And heard. I think maybe you should go home, Reece.”

“Not until she and I talk-”

“I think you heard her. Go.” Dom nods his head in the direction of Reece's house. He looks back and forth between everyone, settling on Jaina.

“So that's it, then?”

“That's it.”

“Okay. Fine.” Reece turns to Aunt Bree and Dom. “Congratulations. Sorry for disturbing your party.”

Neither of them answer him. Reece shakes his head, before turning and walking away the way he came, to go out the side gate.

Christian takes Jaina's arm and rubs her wrist. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah.... it's fine. Thank you.” She turns to Aunt Bree and Dom. “You too.”

“What happened?”

“I.... I can't right now. Excuse me.”

Jaina pulls away from Christian, who immediately lets her go, and runs into the house, into the den. She sits on the couch, processing. This wasn't what she wanted to do, but she refused to allow herself to be in a situation that had the potential to turn into something like what had happened to Mom.

* * * * * {{ Bree }} * * * * *

I watched Jaina run into the house. After Sienna pointed out the argument, I  had run over to Dom, and by the time we both got up, Reece was trying to drag Jaina across the yard. I still can't believe what I saw. Dom put his arm around my waist. I look over to where Wyatt and Amy are standing, almost off the patio, thankful that Amy had stopped him from running over here. The last time he'd physically protected Jaina from someone hadn't ended very well for him. After Jaina slams the sliding door shut so hard I was worried it would shatter, I turn back to Christian.

“Okay... what happened?”

A voice appears beside me before Christian can answer. “Yes, what happened? Is she okay?” It's Kelsai.

“Er... the douche wanted to talk to her inside, he didn't care for the fact we were dancing. She said no, he tried to drag her in... and I'm not sure but I think she ditched him.”

“What? She broke up with him??” Kelsai sounds excited. I am confused.

“Sounded like it.” Kelsai doesn't say anything else, she just runs into the house, no doubt to talk to Jaina. I look back to Christian. “I saw you make him let her go... thank you.”

“Of course. I wasn't gonna let that fly in front of me, no matter who the woman is. And especially not her.”

“We appreciate it all the same. Maybe you should go in and check on her?”

“Kelsai's gone in, I'll give them a minute. Sorry to have caused an issue.”

“Stop it, you're not the problem, you helped.”

Christian just gives me a shy grin. Odd from him, he's usually super confident, bordering on arrogant at times. I look around, and anyone who had noticed the altercation has gone back to what they were doing. The three of us walk back to the patio area, and Christian keeps going towards Chris' and Sienna's table. They look concerned, and I see Christian start to explain.

* * * * *

After the altercation, I managed to speak to everyone else I hadn't had a few minutes with yet. Andrew, Liz – who I thanked profusely for the beautiful flower arrangements, Kelsai and Victor – which was not as awkward as I had expected, and of course Lisa, who up until I ran into her at the bar I hadn't realized was there. She can be quiet and unseen when she needs to be.

Later, after most of our guests had left, Dom and I had changed into swim suits and had a swim. I convinced Sienna and Chris to join us for a while before they left for their hotel. Jaina hadn't come back outside, and Christian had gone in to speak to her. The only other people still here were Amy, Wyatt, Kara, and Ms. Brenda. Shane had taken his and Kara's kids home, and Loki asked to ride with, since Kara's house was next door to Amy's. It was nearly five PM, and Dom and I had to get ready. We were leaving to fly to Los Angeles to stay at his house in Santa Monica a few days, just us, before Rise to Greatness. Since the show was in L.A. it worked out. Amy, Kara, and Ms. Brenda were in the kitchen, while Wyatt was outside tearing down the stereo set up. All of them had offered to stay here and clean up so we could leave.

Dom and I are in our bedroom getting last minute things together. We had to take regular clothes for a few days with us, as well as outfits for Rise to Greatness appearances, and of course my ring gear.

“Well, other than that chaotic bit in the middle, I'd say the day was a success, yeah?”

“Yeah.” I smile as I sit on the edge of the bed. “I just feel bad about leaving Jaina behind, when she's in such a state.”

“I already offered to take her with us, she looked at me like I'd grown a second head.”

“Hm. Yeah, I can see why she wouldn't want to come.”

“She'll be fine though, she has Kelsai, and Amy and Wyatt.”

“I know. But you know how I am.”

“I do. Softhearted and caring.” He smiles at me as he sits next to me.

“I'm sorry if it seems like she's distracting me from us. I think once we get away from here, I'll have my head clear.”

“It's not a bad thing to be concerned about her. But I really think she'll be okay. As for us...” He grins and kisses me. “I do want to ask you something.”

“I already married you so it can't be that important.” I smirk.

“That you did. But.... it's about something you said, right after I kissed you. About tonight.”

“Oh... that...” I had forgotten I said that, but it was still true.

Dom nods. “Yeah... did I hear that right? Does it mean what I think?”

I'm not sure how to answer. I know that since my birthday last week I've been almost certain that I'm ready to try to get back to normal, back to full intimacy. But I'm not sure if I want to say it, and put that expectation out there, and pressure... only to back out at the last minute. I open my mouth to try to say something vague, but a knock on the door saves me.

“Aunt Bree?”

Dom sighs, hanging his head for a moment. He looks up at me, and I silently say 'sorry' before answering Jaina.

“Come in babygirl.”

The door opens and Jaina walks in. Her face is flushed. “Hey... I know you guys are busy trying to leave, but I just have a quick question. Um.... would it be okay if Christian stayed here with me, until I have to meet you guys in L.A.?”

“I don't have a problem with that.”

“Not at all, in fact I think it's a good idea. Just in case he tries to start anything.”

“That's what Christian said when he offered.”

“Then I guess he's staying.”

Jaina smiles. “Thanks.” She gives me a quick hug before walking out. I turn to Dom.

“Well. That's a development.”

“Can't say I'm surprised.”

“Me either. So um.... you asked me something...”

“You know what? Don't worry about it.”

“Okay.”

* * * * *

We were in the air by six, leaving Amy, Wyatt, Kara, Ms. Brenda, Jaina, and Christian at home. Ms. Brenda's flight home was the next day and Amy promised to take her to the airport for us. Once we were in the air though, all of that faded away. It was just us, from that moment until probably Friday morning, when I had to report to... some convention center or something like that, for the first day of FanFest. The f light from New Orleans to Los Angeles is a little over three hours. Dom and I spent most of it in silence, sitting next to each other on the divan in the back of the plane. We'd brought wine on board and had some, and I played quiet music on the stereo system. When we got to Los Angeles and clear of the airport, Dom had arranged for someone to drive his older car, a Lexus he had before he moved to New Orleans a few years ago, brought to the airport so we didn't have to worry about getting a rental. He drove us straight to his house on the beach, in the gated community that had given me the idea to buy my own house in one. I wondered why we didn't stop to get a few grocery items, but not long after we got inside and took our luggage upstairs, I realized why. Dom had also arranged to have some things delivered shortly after our arrival.

It's just after sunset, and Dom has a whole set up out on the beach right behind his house. Since it was summer, a lot of the homes here that are usually empty when we're here are occupied, because people are on vacation. And while it seems like a private beach because because the community is gated, there actually isn't any such thing as a private beach in California, so there was nothing we could do about other people running up and down the beach. So... Dom has this pop-up tent thing, with fabric walls that zip open and closed on either side. There's no floor, so he has a blanket laid out under it. The whole thing is about eight feet square, so just enough room for us to sit inside and lay down and relax if we wanted to, in relative privacy. There aren't very many people out anyway, most tend to go back inside once it's dark. But there were a few, so the little space he made for us was appreciated. I sat inside wearing shorts and a thin halter top, with the zipper doors open to catch the breeze off the water, while Dom was inside putting together something he called a surprise. I knew it was some kind of food, I just didn't know what. Soon, he comes out, barefoot and in trunks, and carrying a tray in both hands. I can't see what's on it until he sits down though.... and then I smile.

“Baby.... you didn't.”

“Oh, so you remember?”

“What, the first time you took me out here, and the spread you bought us from Walmart? Yeah... I remember.”

On the tray was an array of cheese cut into cubes, a bowl of destemmed strawberries, and a bottle of wine. Complete with two plastic cups.

“I splurged this time and got better cheese than sharp cheddar. How does Gouda and Havarti sound?”

“Sounds great. I see you still haven't broken out the fine crystal.” I giggle.

“That... was on purpose. Gotta keep humble, you know.” He pops the wine open with a smirk. I laugh as he pours wine into the plastic cups.

It's a lot warmer tonight than it was on the night he's adorably recreating, as that one was in November. So the chilled wine goes down very easy. We nibble at the cheese and strawberries and talk some more about that first night out here, and some other favorite memories from the last few years. The breeze picks up a bit, and a few people from the house next door appear outside on the beach. I say next door, but there's a whole lot between the houses, so they're actually pretty far away. Still, we decide we want to be in our own little world so Dom zips the fabric doors shut. As he sits back down, I eye the cheese.

“There's one chunk of Gouda left, do you want it?”

“Nope, all yours.” As proof, he picks it up and holds it out, to feed it to me. I laugh and open my mouth. He gently puts it in.

“Mmm. Thanks. I think that's my favorite.” I chase it with the rest of my wine. Dom grabs the bottle.

“Refill?”

“Sure.”

He pours more for me, and himself. With most of the cheese and all the strawberries gone, Dom sets the tray aside. We can hear the other people on the beach in the distance, but it doesn't seem to matter inside this little tent. I have more wine, and lean back a little on one hand.

“This was the best idea, baby. A little cozy quiet spot after all the excitement earlier.”

“That was the plan. You'll have a lot more excitement next week, so I thought a few days of peace would be nice. Starting with this, of course.” He gestures at the little tent around us.

“This... is perfect.” I sit up and give him a kiss, a deep one. He leans in, and I lean back. We end up laying next to each other on the blanket, the sand still warm under us. “I mean, the cheese and strawberries like before, the better wine. Very good recreation, baby.”

“I hoped you wouldn't think it was too cheesy.” I giggle. “Pun not intended...”

“Not at all. In fact...” I lay back on my back and put one arm under my head, while curling my finger at him to come closer with the other hand. “What do you think about recreating the rest?”

Dom leans over me, giving me a smile. “So, you did mean what I thought you meant earlier.” I just nod, biting my lip a little. Just because I knew I could do this didn't mean I wasn't nervous about it. He leans down and kisses me, but pulls back after a few moments. “And you're completely sure about this?”

“Baby.... I was sure last week. My birthday, in the pool?” He nods, remembering. “I just thought.... it would be better if I waited til tonight.”

Leaning on one arm propping himself up, still leaning over me, he rubs my face with his other hand.  “You know... I think you're right.”

Dom then kisses me again, deeply.

There were no more words. Just kissing, and caressing, and loving. A whole lot of loving. It was like nothing had ever happened to me at all. The ability to be a wife to my new husband in every way was the best wedding gift I could have asked for, and the only thing I really wanted.

ON CAMERA

A beautiful beach sunset fills the screen, the sun just about to 'touch' the water. Waves gently lap at the shore. The shot slowly turns to show down the shoreline, a few houses along the beach, then finally the deck of a particular two-story home, where we find Bree Lancaster seated on the steps of the deck. She's in cut off shorts, a bright yellow tank top, and barefoot. She smiles, brushing a few strands of hair out of her face that had come loose from the top knot the rest of her long blonde hair is in.

One week ago today, was without a doubt... the best day of my life. I've had other amazing days. My wrestling debut. The first match I won. My first title win. My first World Championship win. And on the personal side, the births of my nieces and nephew. Amy and my brother's wedding. But nothing.... nothing, compares to the day I married my best friend and love of my life. Our closest family and friends as witnesses.... I can't put into words how much it meant to me that everyone in attendance took time out of their lives, put aside some quarrels they had with each other, just to be there for me and Dom as we ended one chapter and started a whole new one. I have to give a special public thanks to a few people, so please bear with me while I do this, okay?

First, Dom's family. David and Jason Helms. Our history hasn't been the greatest. I can't even choose which one was worse... everything that went down with Jason when we fought over the United States Championship, got really too damn personal because of you and Amy, and me and Dom. Or, everything that happened with David. We never really got along, especially when he was General Manager for those few months. I remember pulling a nasty blackmail trick in particular. But, there was last year. Rise to Greatness. I was World Champion, you won the Flame. Dom had a movie to promote, that SCW was in partnership with thanks to Kennedy Street being involved. It was a perfect storm really, and as much as I tried to keep it from getting personal, it became that way. I know we've spoken in private Dave but I wanted to say publicly that I am glad everyone has worked things out, including you and I. All I wanted, even since last year, was for you and Dom to remember that you're family. I've seen this business tear families apart, it almost happened to mine, and I never wanted that for you. So, my thanks to you, both David and Jason... is for coming to the wedding, leaving all of that mess in the past, and being willing to accept me as part of your family, like I've accepted you as part of mine.

Bree smiles again, knowing that her putting that out there would turn some heads, but she didn't care. No family infighting is something she's wanted for literal years and the fact it's happened makes her almost as happy as being married does.

Another thanks goes to Datura, for the beautiful flower arrangements she handmade and brought with her to make my back yard and pool area look magical. I wanted everyone to know that she's not just a kick ass talent in the ring, but creative and talented in a more delicate way, too.

And of course... the woman who it could be said played a pivotal role in this wedding even happening at all. That woman is Kennedy Street.

I debated on whether or not I was going to tell this story. I asked Dom about it, he doesn't mind. In the end I decided to share it with you, because I know a lot of people are questioning how and why me and this woman are friends now. How did we get from where we were to here? It's fairly short story, but an important one to me. Last year, Kennedy and Dom did this little movie called Deep Cover. I'm sure you remember it. While they were filming, Dom and I.... well, we had a bit of an argument. I'm not going to get into what it was about because we are well past it now and it doesn't matter anymore, but at the time? It was pretty serious. To the point he stayed away filming for the whole month rather than coming home on weekends. We both had things to think about. And Kennedy, she...

Bree shakes her head, smiling a bit.

She might not want me to tell you about this because it shows she does have a heart, even when it comes to someone she previously disliked. But, she saw Dom upset at work, and knew something wasn't right. She called me, let me know about myself. She gave him a piece of her mind, too. We were both being stubborn and ignorant, and Kennedy made us both take a harder look and actually listen to each other's point of view. I don't think it's stretch to say that her interference, while it annoyed me at the time... likely saved us.

So, Kennedy. I have to say thank you.Maybe we would have worked it out eventually anyway, but I can't say that for sure. All I know is what actually happened. It meant everything to us that you and Jon came to the wedding last week, for that reason.

Bree smiles and uses both hands to blow a kiss at the camera.

Now, maybe the rest of the world will understand why Kennedy and I have been friendly backstage since she returned to SCW. Maybe it will help you to understand why I was not angry that she seemingly nosed her way into what I was trying to do by targeting Ravyn Taylor.

Yes, I wanted to confront Ravyn myself. The things she and her group Infamous have been doing around this company for years had finally reached a boiling point with me. She's played mindgames with Sienna... she masterminded the fake car accident that took her and Syren out of that battle royal a few years ago that I won, earning a shot at the World Championship, only to get Syren added in to my match without having to do anything to earn it... and tried to blame the accident on Kennedy. I explained all of this last year when Ravyn challenged me for the World Championship.. and I defeated her. My hatred for her goes back a long ways, and Kennedy's hate for her is tied to the same event.

Bree pauses a moment, her expression hardening a bit as she remembers that Championship match.

Now, Ravyn likes to claim that I only beat her because of David Helms' interference, but that's just Ravyn doing the thing she usually does. Twisting facts and hoping that none of you remember the truth. Luckily for the SCW Faithful, I was there, and I can tell you the truth. Yes, David interfered. Yes, he came to the ring and got involved, in what could be described as a distraction to Ravyn, allowing me to Classify her in half as soon as she turned around. But what Ravyn conveniently loves to leave out, is that the only reason David was out there in the first place... is because she was about to try to hit me with the title belt! Only Ravyn Taylor could try to turn the fact she was stopped from cheating around into me winning because someone interfered. The truth, is that if she hadn't picked the belt up and tried to hit me with it, David would have had no reason to come to the ring.... and you know? There's a chance Ravyn might have actually beat me, on her own. But she couldn't risk that. She didn't want to be seen losing to someone she considers inferior to her.

But let's be very clear here, it was her own actions that caused her loss. Not David Helms. Not me taking advantage of his presence. All Ravyn had to do was... not cheat. It's that simple.

Bree holds her hands up, as if explaining something basic to a child.

And I am not going to let her try to run the narrative that I only beat her because I got help. That's just not true, and I think everyone knows it. Part of my confronting her now was to try to prove that. I was going to suggest a match where everyone was banned from ringside. Or maybe some kind of no DQ stipulation. Because I know, in my soul that I am a better competitor than she is. Ravyn, for years, has banked on her schemes and plans to get ahead, instead of relying on her own skills and talents. The sad thing is that if she put all of her focus in to actually fighting, she could beat almost everyone on this roster. Easily. But she's used mindgames and plots as a crutch for so long, that I wanted to see if she really still had it. If she could still go and actually fight.

Listen, I know my past. I know the things I've done, everything that was on camera and out there for everyone to throw back in my face now, when I'm trying my best to be better. I even know the things I did in secret, that only a handful of people know. Years ago I even pulled a few tricks like Ravyn leans on. Schemes, flat out cheating. But in the last say.... two or three years? I wasn't about that. I was about getting in the ring, stepping up to anyone put in front of me, and proving that I am the best, no matter what I had to do to accomplish that.

But for me, 'whatever it takes' didn't mean cheap shots. It didn't mean blatant cheating. It just meant being brutal. Attacking weaknesses, known injuries. It meant being willing to cause hurt, to be the one left standing. Even then though, there were lines I wouldn't cross. I would never intentionally try to end someone's career.

That's why I didn't mind taking a sort of side-mission to help Lucas, to keep Chris from doing something he'd regret. When I stepped up I had no idea what we were going to be presented with, how far that woman Minerva was going to go. She's crossed so many lines... I know it's not my fight, it's Chris', but for the brief time I had a hand in pushing back... I think I made my statement.

There are things in this business that are off limits.

Ravyn Taylor doesn't understand that. She never did. She's threatened people's careers, threatened to hurt people's children.... screwed me and Kennedy as I've already gone over more than once. It's time for Ravyn to understand that there are people who are not going to put up with it anymore. That being me.... and Kennedy.

Bree takes a deep breath, and stretches her legs out on the deck steps.

Kenndy. I want you to know that I am not upset with you for making what I expected to be my mission for Rise to Greatness into a triple threat. Even though it's well documented that because of the mess Ravyn orchestrated that screwed both of us... I normally hate triple threats. But this is different. You're not trying to interfere to steal the spotlight, as I have heard some people claim. I think... that you saw what I was doing, finally calling Ravyn out for her constant plots and schemes, and you wanted to be a part of it.

You wanted to help.

Just like when you called me that day last year and gave me shit for being hardheaded and short-sighted.

Maybe no one else will understand that I accept that you did this and even look forward to it, but I want you to understand. We're friends. You're doing another movie with my husband....

Bree pauses and smiles to herself.

Okay, that feels good yet strange to say. It's still sinking in. Anyway... Kennie... I'm honored to share this match, this Rise to Greatness moment with you. We both have so many reasons to want to put Ravyn in her place. But, that said... we both have reasons to want to come out on top over each other, too. I'm not going to hide the fact that it used to bother me that you've pinned me twice and I've never gotten my receipt on that. In a way it still does, not because of any leftover animosity... I've put all that in the past, and I don't live in the past anymore. But because you are without a doubt one of the best to ever step foot in the ring not only in SCW, but in the world. There are a handful of people that I want to best, that I want a victory over, because I want to be included in that conversation when wrestling historians discuss who the best to ever do this were. I've fought and beaten some of the best this company has to offer... David Helms. Jason Helms. Ravyn Taylor. Sienna Swann. Tommy Valentine. Jordan Majors. James Evans. Donovan Kayl. Jake Starr. Aaron Blackbourne. Selena Frost.

But I've never beaten you, babe.

I don't want this to become another rivalry, I don't want to reignite the heat we used to have. If we can put Ravyn out of commission for a few minutes and go at it just me and you... and end the match between us? If I beat you, I will feel like I am that much closer to proving myself to be the best, as I've been working to prove for my entire career.

And hey, if you pin me again, at least I will know that I tried, and that you and I had our Rise to Greatness moment, and when it's over we will raise each other's arms and hug, and walk back up the ramp together, where my husband and your co-star will greet both of us and congratulate us on a job well done.

As long as it's one of us, babe. I think you and I both know that no matter what else happens?

We can't let Ravyn Taylor win.

Bree stands up and backs up the steps one step, as if she's going inside the house.

See you both tomorrow night, babes. Bring your best. I know I will be.

Bree then turns and crosses the deck, opens the door, and steps inside.
